1,000 Homes Later: Three Rules I Never Compromise On
If you asked me how I sold over 1,000 homes, my answer is not a single formula; it is a thousand different stories. But behind every one of them sit three rules.
If you asked me how I sold over 1,000 homes in real estate, my answer is not a single formula. It is a thousand different stories.
- Some deals closed because I stopped talking and listened;
- others because I took the lead and spoke up;
- some needed lightning speed;
- others needed the patience to wait.
But I did not reach this milestone alone. Over eight years in real estate, from surveyor to leadership, everything my team and I achieved came down to three rules I refuse to compromise on.
1. Total honesty
As the saying goes, the truth always comes out. In real estate a lie might win one sale, but it loses one client, their family, and everyone they know, permanently. Whoever works with the truth wins in the end; if not today, then tomorrow.
2. People over properties
When you stop pushing a sale and focus entirely on the client’s real need, the results follow on their own. Sometimes that means saying, “this may not be the right property for you.” You might lose a sale that day. What you earn instead is lasting trust.
3. Strong team relationships
We spend most of our waking hours with the people we work alongside. Nurturing genuine, positive relationships with them brings out everyone’s best work and makes the journey worth it. A thousand homes is never the work of one person. It is the work of a team.
Houses come and go
Markets shift, projects launch and complete, clients arrive and move on. These three principles have stayed with me from day one until today. If there is a “secret” behind 1,000 homes, this is it.
What is one non-negotiable rule that guides your work?
